A Go-To Kimchi-jjigae Lunch Spot for Office Workers

On a happy Friday, feeling light and cheerful, I always crave a delicious lunch. Following a suggestion from one of my favorite junior colleagues, I decided to try Yemaekgwan in Jongno.
The interior seemed clean and well-maintained.
The side dishes (banchan), a rolled omelet, and Spam came out first. The rice was free, and the Spam was so good that I ate a piece and almost finished my entire bowl of rice before the kimchi-jjigae even arrived.
The kimchi-jjigae here was made with kimchi that had been thoroughly fermented for a long time, resulting in a refreshing and delicious stew. It had been a really long time since I’d had kimchi-jjigae made with proper mugeunji (aged kimchi).
