A Fun Dinner Gathering in Euljiro
Gongpyeong-dong Kkomjangeo & Eulji Maekok
Office workers often enjoy get-togethers with colleagues they feel comfortable with. I’d like to share a course where we had an incredibly fun time for our Euljiro office dinner gathering.
Gongpyeong-dong Kkomjangeo
Gongpyeong-dong Kkomjangeo was originally a popular spot near Cheonggyecheon, but they opened a branch right near Euljiro 3-ga Station. So, we visited the Euljiro branch, which is closer to our company.
The menu prices at Gongpyeong-dong Kkomjangeo felt reasonable. On this day, we called ahead to make a reservation and requested Baekseju (a traditional Korean rice wine), which wasn’t on the menu, so we were able to enjoy it. We mixed it with Soju to make “Osipseju” (which literally means “50-year wine,” a blend of Soju and the “100-year wine” Baekseju). The alcohol content was just right, and it tasted great.
Bright red charcoal arrived first. What was even better was that the food came out fully cooked (pre-grilled), so we could eat it right away while keeping it warm over the charcoal.
The menu was quite diverse. Although I don’t have photos of them, we ordered ‘Gyeran-jjim’ (Steamed Egg) and ‘Sujebi’ (Hand-pulled Dough Soup) to go with the slightly spicy grilled seasoning. The balance of flavors was perfect.
Eulji Maekok
Feeling full and slightly tipsy, we headed to our second stop, Eulji Maekok, known for its pretty neon signs. When we stepped inside, there were more foreigners than Koreans. It had a really “hip” vibe.
They sell delicious beers, ranging from ales like IPA to various craft beers. It was fun choosing what to drink, and the interior lighting was beautiful too.
The beer glasses looked like the plastic cups you get at a beer festival, but they suited the atmosphere well. We ordered a Quattro Cheese Pizza as our first snack, and we were all surprised because it was tastier than we expected.
Since the first dish was so good, we ordered more, and everything was delicious.
We got carried away by the atmosphere and ordered impulsively, so the bill came out a bit high, but it was a truly enjoyable dinner gathering.
